Concord residents prepare to attend the Nashoba Fruit Producers Association annual meeting in Harvard. Allister F. MacDougal, director of the Middlesex County Extension Service, will speak on plans for 1946.

A Massachusetts Hospital Service speaker promoted Blue Cross and Blue Shield enrollment for non-group citizens. A Walden Street store aids community information. A joint meeting with the Concord Lions Club was announced for West Concord at an E Street restaurant.

Albert George Davidson 43 a World War II veteran died at Massachusetts General Hospital on February 5 funeral services were conducted by Rev Charles Russell Peck at Trinity Episcopal Concord Burial followed at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Concord Davidson born May 14 1902 in St John s New Brunswick lived in Concord and worked for 18 years in a Cambridge firm He served in the US Army from September 1 1942 to October 28 1945 as a sergeant in the 25th Headquarters attached to the Second Army He is survived by a sister Laura Davidson father Thomas and five brothers all of St John s.
Elmer D Rankin is elected president of the Rod and Gun Club with John T Hayes as vice president Ange lo V Bartolomeo as secretary and Clarence S Nelson as treasurer C McLean named fish and game committee chair tasked with contacting state authorities about stocking local areas A membership drive will start soon ahead of the March meeting signaling a busy spring and summer season for old and new members and prospects.
A four day gathering of Student Federalists from 26 states and 35 colleges ended in Concord after a final public meeting on Monday afternoon. About 85 delegates attended sessions begun last Thursday, with dinners at Wright Tavern and church services Sunday. The group adopted several resolutions and agreed UNO should be dropped in favor of a new world sovereignty based on federalist principles.
Concord publishes town warrant listing 34 articles for the upcoming town meeting. Meeting set for March 4 at 7 30 PM in the Veterans Building Walden Street with a second session on February 25 from noon to 7 30 PM. Precinct one voters use the Veterans Building while Precinct two vote at Harvey Wheeler School.
Patrick J. Disken 68 of 19 Cottage Street West Concord died Tuesday February 5 at Emerson Hospital. A high mass of requiem was held at The Church of Our Lady Help of Christians West Concord followed by burial at St Bernards Cemetery. Members of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Name Society served as bearers with the Rev Joseph W Sullivan celebrating. Disken a native of Ireland lived in is town 50 years and was a former farmer and railroad crossing tender. He is survived by widow Ellen A Durkan two daughters Ellen L Catherine F Martha R and Mrs Kenneth Lovell a son Roger J a U S Navy lieutenant and three brothers and three sisters.
Concord’s Pete Harwood tied for third in the B A A games at the Boston Garden with a 13 foot vault. Howard Jensen of Philadelphia won at 14 feet while Harwood’s 13-6 attempt failed. Harwood, naval student at Harvard, placed third at Millrose prior to this event. His brother Chuckie also Harvard bound did not compete.
Concord voters face at least two contests on Monday February 25 as two new candidates filed for the School Committee and Recreation Commission. Professor Charles R. Cherington challenges the Caucus slate for three years, while James H. Deacon runs against Eleanor T. Moore, Roger C. Henn, and Benjamin F. Clark for the Recreation Commission three seats.
Funeral services were held last Sunday afternoon for Mrs Mary Anderson Burland 77 widow of Erik Burland who died Friday at a Lincoln rest home. A Sweden native born 1868 she lived in West Concord for 50 years and was a member of the West Concord Union church with Rev Alfred Wheeler Stone officiating and burial in the town.
Concord mourns Mrs Celia Thompson 81 who died in Cambridge after living there. Her funeral was at St Bernard’s Church last Thursday. Burial in St Bernard’s cemetery. She was mother of Theresa Carroll, resided previously in Lowell, wife of Frederick, and mother of William of Brooklyn and Mrs James Wall of Chelsea.

Lawrence, Camp and Hospital Council led by Mrs Gordon Smith, Disaster Preparedness chaired by Eliot R. Howard, First Aid headed by Frederick R. Child Jr., Home Nursing under Mrs Rodney E. Pratt, and Home Services led by Aber C. Peters. Grey Ladies assist Lovell General and Bedford Veterans Hospitals. Motor Corps under Mrs Dolan supports General Hospital activities. Nurses Aides and Junior Red Cross work expand hospital support and community care.
