Concord voters turnout nears 360 as the Citizens Caucus convenes in Veterans Building. A largely uncontested slate was nominated, with H W Whittemore Brown winning Selectman over Chilton Cabot and Kennan Damon defeating Oscar J Bedford for West Concord School Committee.
The Steve Pipe baseball league pushed to expand with Suburban League President Wheeler planning a real class A diamond semi pro circuit. Haverhill and Lowell CMA seek entry while two Wallingford nines Miller Oil and Smarts merge to form one strong lineup. The L. D. Wilson Chapter Order of DeMolay of Maynard held a closing concert and ball at the state armory in Concord. Rob ert Lester supervised the program from eight to nine with entertainment and dancing to one o'clock, plus intermission refreshments. Barbara Jordan led Rainbow for Girls, while James Bowen and others performed. Music by Val Jean and his Canobie Lake orchestra accompanied the dancing as honors and patrons were named. Master Councillor Howard Weaving and associates directed the grand march at ten.
Annie L. Kaler aged 53 of 49 Sudbury Street died early Wednesday after a month long illness. Born in New Hampshire she had been a resident of the town for many years and leaves a grieving family. Funeral from the home Friday at 9 with a high mass at St Bridget's Church and interment in Milford.
Town selectmen from the section join the mid winter meeting of the Selectmen's Association of Worcester County at Hotel Aurora in Worcester where President John W Heselton of Deerfield opened the session at 41 o clock. A Q A session followed, engaging all. Miss Patricia McKenna hosted guests from the cast of Dream Girl at the Colonial Inn during a Monday dinner. Guests included Richard A and Mr and Mrs Lawrence Frawley and Miss Clara Porter.

Sidney Raymond McCleary of Bowdoin College earned election to Phi Beta Kappa Alpha of Maine, among four Bowdoin seniors announced Saturday. McCleary, a history major on the Dean's list since freshman year, active in Bowdoin Political Forum, is a Maynard High School graduate. The Bowdoin chapter, established in 1825, is the sixth in the fraternity founded at William and Mary in 1776.
Marlboro Mr and Mr Edward S Morse of Witherbee street display relics linked to Abraham Lincoln. A photograph of Lincoln’s original message and a cane fashioned from the Crawford mantlepiece in Gentryville Indiana are described. Lindon, Morse’s associate, worked nearby and a Hayden family member owns the mantlepiece cane. Maynard Joseph Chidley died Friday at a CCC camp in Waterbury Vermont from pneumonia. He was 53, born in Waterbury. Funeral held Monday from his brother George Chidley’s home at 1 Front Street. A graveside service at St. Bridget’s cemetery included taps, three volleys, and many flowers and messages of sympathy.

The Maynarge annual town meeting at the high school auditorium saw 2049 ballots from 2955 eligible voters. Eight candidates contested the Board of Selectmen with Roy Kd. Marsden re elected as junior member by 1209 votes, Frank J. McCarron 887, and Donald A. Lent 885. School committee winner John T. Higgins defeated Howard King by ten votes. National party lines crossed in a tight race, with four Democrats four Republicans and one tied. Frank E. Sanderson led town clerk race and George Thane won tax collector. Many unopposed officials were elected including treasurer George Gutteridge and library trustee John F. Hannon. The Board of Selectmen will meet tonight depending on Mr. Lent’s attendance.
Mrs. Elias McQuade of Lowell nearly struck a casket on the road in Acton while en route to the Aicker Man Meowosee Store in Maynard yesterday afternoon. She pulled to the side to avoid the object.
A blaze erupted in a second floor tenement spreading toward a Methodist church. William Moore, 75, bedridden, was carried out on a stretcher to his daughter Alfred Carey on Powder Mill Road. Chief George T. Priest and firefighters contained the fire, with Dunlop Tire shop on the first floor losing most stock, moved to the sidewalk.
Mrs Juliette Blanchard 88, last of eight siblings, died Monday at her Davis Court home in South Acton. Survived by two sisters and several sons, she taught school and lived in town 25 years. A West Acton Women’s Club member and DAR, funeral Thursday at 2 pm at the home with Rev. Arthur Jeffries officiating. burial in Mount Hope cemetery.
Martha Jones, Jantti Jones, Leo Noon, and Maxine DeLory are listed as involved in the proceeding. Constable Henry Piecewicz headed the case before the authorities.
