Mrs Ellen Mulcahy widow of John Mulcahy and lifelong Concord resident died at 9 Brooks street from pneumonia. Born in Tuam Ireland she came to Concord as a young woman and reared five sons and daughters. She left 34 grandchildren and three great grandchildren as a living memorial to her devoted life. Many friends recall her kindness and service to family.
The service for the deceased opened at their home, a solemn high mass at St Bernard's with Rev William H Finnick as celebrant Rev Ernest A Ford deacon and Rev John Sears sub deacon. Pallbearers included Joseph Hopkins John Hopkins William Hopkins and David Hopkins grand nephew Maurice MacWalter and neighbor William Carey. Burial followed at St Bernard's cemetery with committal prayers by Rev Fr Sears. Survived by three sons Thomas J Mulcahy William D Mulcahy and George D Mulcahy and two daughters Mrs Margaret Chamberlain and Mrs William L Hurley along with thirty four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
The Concord Female Charitable Society will meet with Miss Lily Hurd at 4 Monument Street on Wednesday February 12 at 2 pm.
I First Parish in Concord announces Sunday February 9 morning service at 11 led by Rev Edward P Daniels. The sermon continues the series A Common Faith with the New Age of Resolute Faith as the subject. Choir offers Watching over Israel and Deck Thyself My Soul with Gladness.
Rev George leads a 10 45 morning sermon on Our Human Shortfall and God's. Church school at 9 30 led by Mrs George Erickson. Supper 6 30 for Young People's Club with 7 pm meeting. Older group meets in the church parlor at 8 00. A Sierra Leone native discusses Ethiopia from an African view. Social hour and refreshments follow. Invitation extended to young people aged 20 to 30.
