Advice On Filing Joint Tax Returns From IRS Commissioner
Internal Revenue Commissioner says couples should compare both joint and separate returns to save money. Filing jointly often lowers tax. if income is under 5000 combined, Form 1040A or 1040 may be used. Certain cases forbid joint returns, and spouses may still file jointly if one died. Both spouses must sign, and liability for tax remains. The IRS provides split-taxes tables on Form 1040 and bills or refunds after processing.
