He enlisted August 1 1955 in Boston and trained at Sampson Air Force Base New York. A Concord High School 1955 graduate he plans to work in the Air Police law enforcement field.
West Concord educator Dr. Abigail Eliot will speak to the Thoreau-Wheeler P. T. A. at the Thoreau Auditorium at 8 pm on Your Child's Growth and Development. She formerly led Nursery Training School Boston and now teaches at Brooks School. A school committee member will discuss warrant articles after the talk. President Carl Sproul will preside and a social hour will follow.
Concord area March of Dimes drive nears a record 6800 dollars as coin box collections and later receipts are tallied. John C. Collins serves as treasurer and urges residents via Lions Club sponsors to send in donations.
West Concord Massachusetts Institution for Correction escapees Rene LaCroix 26 Methuen and Ronald Mitchell 24 Marlboro were seized in Antrim New Hampshire while applying for work. They and two others Rob ert Reid 19 Lynn and Clifford Barthus 25 Worcester fled the farm dormitory two days earlier and face escape charges.
Ruth Odiorne Wood of 26 Hubbard Street marked her 92nd birthday with family remarks. Born in East Boston, she has lived in Concord since 1888 with husband the late Walter S. Wood and four sons, a daughter, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Concord Lions Club delegates led by Past Zone Chairman Leon J. Moreau visited Pepperell Lions on Monday evening along with President Rudolph W. Currier. Moreau presented keys to two members who sponsored new recruits, with nine Wakefield Lions also present and greeted by President Herbert Sweet.

Ashes will be distributed after 7 PM mass at St Bernard's Church and Our Lady Help of Christians Church with afternoon and night rites. Betty Nagle a Concord High senior won the girls division in the Elks leadership contest sponsored by Concord Lodge No 1479. Loretta Cullinane and Elizabeth Rice took second and third, each receiving cash prizes. Kevin Grennan won the boys division, also a Concord High senior, earning a defense bond and state contest eligibility.
Concord Lions Club announces delegates to the international convention in Miami Florida from June 27 to 30. President Rudolph W Currier and Past President Leon J Moreau will attend. Five delegates chosen for the Swampscott state convention in May are John E Holt Warren F Davis John C Collins Arthur L Carr and William H Kemp. Alternates are Everett L Broughton Raymond P Lawson Robert L Carter Robert W Shalliner and Robert E Keehan.
January building permits total $98,000, down from $176,800 in January 1955. Of the current amount, $53,000 covered new construction including three new dwellings, one valued at $24,000. Last year, $166,500 of the $176,800 was for new construction.
