Brig Gen Otis M Whitney of Elm Street state commissioner of public safety was re appointed last week by Gov Christian A Herter for a three year term. Whitney first assumed the post in 1953 and has served since. He declined the Middlesex County district attorney appointment to accept re appointment.

A motorist reported striking a deer on the Concord Pike near Crosby's station. Concord police and Patrolman Pagano investigated. no deer at the scene. The animal was later found on the State Police barracks lawn and notified to the game warden.
