The Middlesex school football team elects Parker Stevens Wise of New York left halfback as captain for the 1924 season. Wise and Lawrene Scovelle of Melrose, class of 1925, hold leadership roles, with letters awarded to fourteen players including Capt. Harvey Thompson and several others from Englewood, Dedham, and beyond. Five letter players will graduate: Thompson, Blair-Smith, Allen, Stetson, and White.

Garlick gets indefinite sentence for Maynard Trust Co. case
John H. Garlick, 24, ex teller at Maynard Trust Co, received an indefinite sentence at Concord Reformatory after noon by Judge Whiting. The case stemmed from a bank run and a $24,000 shortage, with more than 200 Maynard residents petitioning for clemency and probation.
