Concord Marine Rescued After 24 Hours at Sea
Marine First Lieutenant Howard Heyliger aged 31 has returned to his squadron after a 24 hour harrowing ordeal in the East China Sea. He was rescued by a Navy Dumbo flying boat after escaping a plane crash near Japan. He served with Maj. Gen. Louis B. Woods second marine air wing and has been overseas ten months, participating in the Okinawa campaign. Heyliger, a Pensacola graduate, is one of three sons of Mr and Mrs Theodore G Heyliger of Cambridge Turnpike and is married.
