A fragment notes the fifth wedding anniversary of Dr and Mrs Spen vler from Lexington. They wed at Trinitarian Church in Concord on an unspecified date in 1940. Mrs Taylor is Helen Breia Larsen, now in the Navy, living with her parents in Acton. Mr Taylor hails from Acton.
Hansen was a native of the area and was well known in the community. He is survived by his one son and four sisters according to the obituary notes.
Marine First Lieutenant Howard Heyliger aged 31 has returned to his squadron after a 24 hour harrowing ordeal in the East China Sea. He was rescued by a Navy Dumbo flying boat after escaping a plane crash near Japan. He served with Maj. Gen. Louis B. Woods second marine air wing and has been overseas ten months, participating in the Okinawa campaign. Heyliger, a Pensacola graduate, is one of three sons of Mr and Mrs Theodore G Heyliger of Cambridge Turnpike and is married.
Do y K Mara and cueabae Mara, registered nurses, spent years on duty in the British Isles and overseas. They arrived in New York aboard the Queen Elizabeth with a large returning contingent. They are daughters of Mrs A Mara and the late Mark Mara.
Concord Rotary Club holds weekly lunch and business meeting at the Colonial Inn dining hall Thursday at 12 15 o clock. Thomas L Senbern in charge of the luncheon with President Lester B Whittmore presiding. Last meeting featured Prof Serge Michaelovitch Pinehurst Tennessee formerly of the University of Munich speaking on the Atom Bomb.
Concord plans its annual community fund drive led by Franklin R Johnson of Simon Willard Road as the campaign runs from 1 to October 17 with a bustling map of town routes and tasks.
Dr. Edward P. Werner a former Concord resident Harvard and MIT graduate was recently elected president of the Provisional International Civil Aviation body at its Montreal annual meeting Werner plans to resign as head of the Post which he has held for six years to take the new role.
Concord CYO, enjoying a strong season on the diamond with three teams in action, will hold a victory social at Monument Hall on the night of Thursday August 30 at 8 oclock. The public is invited and music will be provided by a local West Concord orchestra. There will be games and refreshments and tickets may be secured from any CYO member.
Rev Rollin J Fairbank Chaplain of Massachusetts General Hospital preached at Trinity Episcopal Church last Sunday He will return next Sunday August 26 at 930 am with the summer choir singing and Holy Communion distributed
Concord Board of Selectmen set a meeting for Tuesday afternoon September 4 at the town house. Chairman Hubert M. Wardwell will preside. Post war job plans and town celebration may be discussed.

Concord residents attended the annual mer playground exhibit at Everson playground last Tuesday night. Parents and friends viewed work by boys and girls from summer classes under Miss Happie Reynolds and her assistants. The Rideout and Emerson playground exhibits were also largely attended during an eight week program.
Mrs John H Goulding of 2 Fairhaven Concord announces the engagement of her daughter Miss Marie Goulding to Charles E Hanlon son of the late Mr and Mrs Thomas Manion of Acton. Marie is a Concord school graduate and Tufts College alumna who taught in Concord schools and works with Perkins Eaton Machinery in Boston. Hanlon is a former Army member discharged after three overseas months with the 57th Combat Engineer Battalion Americal Division in Guadalcanal Bougainville and Leyte campaigns and earned the Bronze Star in the Southwest Pacific.
Concord's Walden pond and White pond drew large crowds last weekend as residents and out of town visitors, including servicemen and women, sought escape from extreme heat. Lake Walden saw its largest crowd since the war began, with many tourists noted across town on Sunday.
Union services at the Trinitarian Congregational church Walden Street will be held Sunday morning August 26 at 10 o'clock with Rev. Mr Wallace preaching. Special music will be arranged. Guests will be parishioners of the First Parish Unitarian church. This is the final union service of the summer season.

The Concord Lions Club announces a corn roast on August 28 as part of an ongoing schedule. The last meeting at Lion Lawrence's camp was well received and led to a second session and committee planning. Two September meetings are planned at Musketaquid Sportsmen's Club with a ladies night in one event.
The James J Mans field post American Legion No 158 plans its September gathering for Wednesday September 12 at 8 PM in the Veterans building. Commander James Alexander will preside as Bath Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary outline upcoming fall and winter programs.
Workmen of the town highway department completed a new macadam resurfacing on Concord Road between Main and Honaga. The project was directed by Eimer L. Joslin.
Dr Philip T Flavin aged 59 a Concord dentist for 34 years died suddenly at his Lexington Road home. He was Georgetown University class of 1911 and lifelong Concord resident. Survived by widow Elizabeth and four sons. service held at Bernard s Church with a high mass of requiem. Local officials and service members attended.
Concord announces the engagement of Miss Lois Frisell Kidder daughter of Mrs Jer ome Faber Kidder of New York and Woods Hole to Frederick E Lowell son of Mrs Frederick E Lowell of Concord and the late Mr Lowell.
Joseph Barr was commissioned a Captain in the State Guard on July 26. He returns from the inactive list as a First Lieutenant and commands 4th Company to succeed Captain Pratt. The unit trains for 1945 qualifications with 69 rounds. shooting ends by October 31.
Jensen a Water Town native who spent 35 years in Lincoln died suddenly in Boston on Saturday. He is survived by his brother Olin, another brother Holgar, and his father Neils of Lincoln. He was a member of the Waltham Lodge of Elks and a past commander of the Lincoln post A L.
