Despite Saturday’s storm seventy people attended the vestry event. Families brought sandwiches while doughnuts cheese and coffee were provided. A social hour of games and music was declared a splendid success by the committee led by Mrs Mian and others.

Acton School Appoints Drawing Supervisor
Miss Munsterberg has been appointed supervisor of drawing in Acton schools. Arrangements provide a milk lunch at morning recess, with about 50 percent of pupils taking part, and teachers note it is popular.
Doolittle Appointed North West Middlesex Club Leader
Albert W. Doolittle of Acton has been named district club leader for the north west section of Middlesex county overseeing 12 towns. He begins April 1 and serves until October 1 guiding achievement clubs and coordinating regular meetings and home visits to promote club projects amid transportation challenges.

Maynard Eight Families Homeless In Waltham Street Fire
Fire at 22 24 Waltham Street gutted the upper kitchens of two flats, causing $7000 in damage and leaving eight families homeless. Patrolman Nicholas Driscoll awakened occupants and activated the alarm as flames spread from a defective flue. Neighbors helped women and children evacuate, while others salvaged belongings before the fire was contained.

Concord's James Byron Dies After Weeks of Illness
James Joseph Byron longtime Concord resident and respected citizen died at his Hubbard Street home after a five week illness from lobar pneumonia. Born in Roscommon Ireland in 1840 he came to the United States at 14 and lived in Concord over 68 years. He married Ann Burns in Waltham and celebrated their golden wedding in 1916. Surviving children include George H Byron Charlie M Byron James William Edward T Byron Taleb J Byron Francis B and Mary E B Byron among others. The funeral was held March 29 at St Bernard's with a high mass and pallbearers listed. interment followed in St Bernard's cemetery. Funeral flowers and church notices wrap the final tribute.

Clarence Harvey Jones Dies. Longtime Somerville Resident
Clarence Harvey Jones of Somerville died at his home early Monday. Born March 3, 1861 in South Acton, he worked 55 years for S. B. Pierce and later retired. He married Emma E. Carson in 1873 and is survived by a brother and two sisters. Funeral services were held Wednesday with R and P lodge involvement. burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Acton.
