Comanche Band Eyes Uniforms and Fund Drive
The Comanche Band Mothers report 555.65 in the band uniform fund and plan to order new uniforms for the 54 member Comanche High School Band this week. Uniform vendors from Fort Worth Abilene and Dallas will visit Friday to display samples and pricing, with costs estimated between 1200 and 1500 dollars. The group aims to raise 800 before ordering, with the School Board promising a 50 cent match per dollar raised. 100 Bales Cotton Ginned in Comanche County This Season
About one hundred bales of cotton have been ginned by three Comanche gins this season. The first bale was brought in by John Smart on August 30. Four gins operate in the county, with yields expected around 1,000 to 1,100 bales and roughly 700 ginned in Comanche. Local buyers paid eight and one half to nine cents per pound.

Lake Eanes Receives 4000 Fish From State Hatchery
About 4,000 bass crappie brim and channel cat fingerlings were released into Lake Eanes at Comanche by the State Fish Hatchery in Cisco. Mayor M Coleman spearheaded the request with backing from Frank Howington a district representative. L A Proctor assistant superintendent of the Cisco Hatchery delivered the fish using an air conditioned truck and five gallon buckets with air pumped in by a compressor. The new transfer method aims to reduce losses and previously 4,000 bass fingerlings were released earlier in the year.

Strickland Kills Four-Foot Rattler in Coryell County
Macksville resident E W Strickland killed a large rattlesnake in Coryell County while in Comanche Thursday morning. The four and a half foot reptile bore eight rattles and was given to Mack Matthews at Gustine for stuffing to join his curio collection. Strickland has lived in Macksville for fourteen years and has worked trails for over forty years.
