Durham Firm To Shell Pecans Here Again This Season
The Durham Pecan and Peanut Company of Comanche has added over $6,000 in on site shelling equipment and will shell pecans this fall. Manager Walter Durwin cites the 1940 wage law setting a thirty cent per hour minimum as a factor, but the new setup will employ about fifteen to twenty workers and process 150 to 200 pickers worth of pecans.
