Comanche County Tax Rolls Show Major Property Decline
The Comanche County assessor reports a roughly one million dollar drop from 1934 valuations as total assessed value falls to 8,352,830 from 9,338,925. Public utilities including oil firms and railroads lead the decline while farm values also slip. Salary increases for county officials were rejected by the Commissioners Court. The current tax rate stands at 60 cents, up nine cents from last year, yet remains below most Texas counties due to low county debt and precinct-based road bonds.
