Comanche County Approves Higher Tax Rates for Next Year
The Commissioners Court raised the county tax rate by 9 cents for next year while offsetting some increases with cuts in Road Precinct Taxes. Total rates rise from 51 to 60 cents, with specific increases in pauper, general, jury, jail and court house funds, and a notable drop in the rail bond fund. Road Precinct adjustments trim rates in No. 1 No. 4 and especially No. 5 where the levy falls from 85 to 50 cents. The proposed budget shows debt payments of 30,234.77 this year versus under 20,000 last year, with next year interest projected at 4,762.04. Salary freezes and budget cuts accompany the changes, including a County Agent car allowance removal and revised officer salaries. Continued on last page.
