Comanche County Day Set for State Fair Exhibit

October 7 designated for Comanche County Day at the Texas State Fair in Dallas. A special train will run from De Leon, departing about 5:90 am with return from Dallas around 10 pm. Round trip tickets cost 2.20 with a 240 ticket commitment as a condition. County officials urge students teachers and patrons to join, listing Hilton Burks Dale Howard and De Leon Chamber of Commerce as contact points. Comanche County will exhibit at the fair and promises a strong display this year.

New District Head Named for Central Texas Division

Cecil P. Coston of Hico Texas has been appointed division manager of the Central Texas Division of Community Public Service Company succeeding W D Nuckles who died after a heart attack ending 14 years of service. Coston 36 joined the company in August 1927 and has since held roles from construction crew member to district manager at Hico. He assumed duties September 15 and is succeeded at Hico by O G Collins.

New Prices At Local Theatres

Mr and Mrs J W Carter Jr announce new prices for their theatres due to the defense tax. They absorb the tax on children tickets and raise adult prices only modestly. Comanche enjoys one of Texas best show houses with top programs, keeping attendance steady despite increases. Mr and Mrs Vernon Welch, now of Denton, visited Comanche midweek.

Dan W Swarts 64 oil man from Comanche and Fort Worth died after a car rear–ended a parked truck three miles southwest of Benbrook on Fort Worth Highway Monday evening. A H Woodfin suffered injuries, both men were returning from Comanche when the accident occurred.

Public urged to obtain certificate of title to auto

The public cooperates in securing certificates of title to automobiles, says P A Pettit Tax Assessor Collector. He urges all who can obtain title as soon as possible. The final date is December 31, but people should not wait until the last moment. The tax office is eager to help.

Church Revival Opens Sunday at Harmony Church of Christ

A revival will begin Sunday at Harmony Church of Christ with preaching by Minister R. C. Ledbetter of the Comanche church. No closing date is announced. The public is invited to attend. Roy Little of Clemons Motor Co. journeyed to Abilene Thursday.

City To Have New Traffic Ordinance

The City will repeal all current traffic laws and install a new up to date system within the City Limits once an ordinance is passed and published. Mayor W. C. House says the measure is needed for safety and to prevent property damage and will be enforced after enactment.

Gustine Boy Dies After Farm Accident

Billie Jack Varner fourteen, son of Mr and Mrs J R Varner of Dreamer community, died at a German hospital after a Stoves wood yard accident. He slipped moving a railroad tie in a caved cellar, the tie fell and struck his head, he was treated in Comanche and German hospital. Funeral held at Board Church with Rev R M McGinnis officiating. Varner was a Gustine High School tenth grader and vocational agriculture pupil. He was born March 30 1927 in Lubbock County and moved to Gustine three years ago. survived by parents three sisters two brothers and a half brother. His family planned to move to Scurry County.

New Road Bond Assumption Law in Comanche County

The called session of the 47th Legislature reduced farm to market road payments by half, saving Comanche County about $62,000 over the next two years. The session, 11 days long, approved the Bond Assumption Act amid many related bills and amendments.

Fall district court session set as opener Monday

Comanche hears of 17 minor criminal cases carried over and 8 new filings for the term with Judge Lane to act on a light docket. Jurors named include Jack W. Moore and A. F.
