The Comanche County WPA Sewing Project ceased operations September 16 under a national WPA order. Forty six women at Comanche and De Leon lost their jobs, with prior wages averaging 28.80 to 39.80 per month and total county wages around 1200 monthly. The project began November 3 1935 under supervisor Mrs Ethel Wilson Millican and once ran three rooms in Gustine Comanche and De Leon.

First 1941 Lamkin Cotton Bale Ginned At Vicks
J T Faulkner raised the first 1941 cotton bale on Ed Millers farm near Lamkin. The 1675 pound bale yielded 670 pounds lint and sold to Vicks for 17.05. Total receipts were 147.40. World War cost estimated at over 200 billion dollars.

W. W. Elliott of Comanche was arrested in De Leon by Comanche County officers and Deputy Constable Shel ton of Fort Worth. He was sought by Tarrant County officers for passing a 485 dollar worthless check to Beene Used Car in Fort Worth. Mrs. W. W. Elliott was also arrested for disposing of mortgaged property and is held in jail. Elliott was returned to Fort Worth.

The Comanche County tax roll was approved by the Comptroller's Department in Austin on Monday September 15. P A Pettit Assessor Collector submitted the roll which was checked in less than a day with no errors. Funeral At Proctor For Jesse Cline
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon September 11 for Jesse Cline of Proctor with burial at Upper Greens Creek Cemetery. He was 65 years eight months eight days old and died Wednesday afternoon September 10 at Brownwood hospital after a prolonged illness. Cline had long lived around Dublin and is survived by his companion and five children, three daughters and two sons, all present at the funeral.
