Repairs Begin on Highway 67 Surface Project
Preliminary work for the hard surfacing of Highway 67 started Monday with State Highway Department crews under John S. Hart repairing the dump at the Brath County Line. Hart said crews are ready to start surfacing once the road bed is prepared and the dump fixed, aiming for completion by December first. Hot Check Law Drives Offenders in Comanche County
Since January 1, 27 people have been charged with hot check offenses in Comanche county. Two young men paid fines of 23.90 dollars after pleading guilty to swindling by hot checks, matching prior cases in a county clerks office session. Both had written checks for 1 and 4 dollars to a local drug store with no funds, later paying the store five dollars plus 47.80 in fines, underscoring the enforceability of the statute.

J H Huff Jewelry Store was burglarized last Friday night by prying open the front door. A seven jewel gold watch was missing after the morning check. The thief is thought to have taken the repaired watch from the desk and escaped through the back door after turning the night latch as the night watchman neared the front.
