A Comanche Chief football contest crowned Tobby Burrow first with a tie-breaker score earning $5, Judy Burrow claimed $2 for closest score among four-dozen entrants, and John Chapman won $3 after finishing second. The upset was De Leon over Comanche, with Wynn Hasley the only picker.

CHS Homecoming Barbecue Plans Highlight Ex-Student Meet

The Comanche Ex-students Association schedules a September 27 barbecue at the Junior High Cafeteria from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. business meeting to elect officers and discuss a scholarship. Membership is $3 lifetime. barbecue costs $3 for adults and $1.50 for under 12. The 1955 football team reunion is also planned with activities during Homecoming.

Senator Creighton to discuss Constitutional Vote proposal

Senator Tom Creighton of Mineral Wells will visit the Comanche County Courthouse Thursday night September 18 at 7 30 p m to discuss the upcoming Constitutional Election on November 4. He will answer questions and citizens are urged to attend.

$885000 Lawsuit Filed in Comanche County Court

A major lawsuit was filed in the Second Judicial District Court of Comanche County Texas on behalf of Marquita E Colbough aged 18 seeking damages from an automobile crash near Proctor Texas on February 16 1975. Pentecostal Church Holds Revival This Week

The United Pentecostal Church at Houston and Fleming Streets hosts a revival nightly at 7:30 p.m. through Friday. Evangelist Rev. W. T. Driver of Gilmer leads the meetings with local area churches supplying special music. Services are planned outdoors on the church parking lot if weather allows.

Date Board Sets Bid On New High School Building

In a special called meeting the School Board approved architectural plans for the new High School. Bid opening is set for 8:00 p.m. October 14 at the Elementary School Auditorium. Larry Claycomb said contractors have shown interest and the board may take 10 days after the bid date to negotiate with the best bidder. A special meeting is planned for September 25 at 8:00 p.m. to consider bids on the current High School and its lot.

Comanche County Retail Upturn Despite National Recession

The Standard Rate and Data Service reports higher local retail activity in Comanche County with food sales at 8.306 million dollars up from 7.136 million. Car and auto equipment sales fell to 6.433 million from 6.985 million while general merchandise reached 4.944 million and apparel rose from 69 thousand to 774 thousand. Furniture and home furnishings added 1.052 million, up from 906 thousand.

Secretary of State Mark White urged Texans to file new voter registrations by October 3 1975 for the upcoming constitutional election. He noted bilingual forms accompany voter guides and explained re registration rules for those who voted in 1972 or since.

Waste Water Hearing Schedules Regional Zone Order

The Upper Leon Municipal Water District Board sets a second hearing at the Fiber Plant near Lake Proctor Dam at 7 30 p m September 25 to consider a waste disposal order affecting areas within a three mile shoreline zone and extending up to seven or eight miles in spots. The order would regulate septic disposal units and sewage systems for housing projects and villages with fees for licensing. failure could threaten water quality.
