Petit Jurors Called Indians to Host Dublin To Report Monday

Prospect jurors for the 52nd District Court are ordered to report Monday at 10:00 a.m. The list includes residents from Comanche Dublin De Leon Sidney Carlton German and May. District Clerk Ruth Page announced the summons for prospective service.

Comanche High School hosts the Dublin Lions for Homecoming with a 8:00 kickoff. Comanche quarterback Tommy Spencer and top linemen lead the visitors and both teams aim for a victories as district rivals swing Friday night games nearby.

Comanche Band Members Launch Magazine Drive

The Comanche Indian Band Jr High and Beginner band will start its annual magazine drive this week. Townspeople are urged to renew old subscriptions or start new ones, with tapes and records also for sale to raise funds for new instruments.

Ex-Students Plan Homecoming Barbecue and Meeting

The Comanche Ex-Students Association schedules a Saturday September 27 1975 barbecue from 12 30 p m to 2 p m at the Jr High Cafeteria followed by an annual meeting at 2 p m. The event includes a Scholarship Fund presentation officer elections and recognition of classes including a 1955 reunion and 1954 football team honored for its 10 1 1 season. Adults pay 3 00 children 12 and under 1 50. Members are urged to renew the lifetime membership to support future activities.

The 1975-76 Comanche CHS Homecoming Queen will be crowned at Indian Memorial Stadium on Saturday September 27 at 7 30 p m. Finalists include Kimberly Renshaw Sandra Kidd and Nancy Froh with court members Sabrina Boyd Gigi Dudley and Cindy McDonald Escorts attend seniors and queen's court.

Indians Regain Top 10 Spot in Harris Ratings

The Comanche Indians move back into the top ten with a 127.0 strength rating, tying for the 10th spot with Winnsboro and Post. Cameron Yee leads the district with a 146.7 rating while Breckenridge, Cisco, Eastland, Coleman, and Hamilton posted varying scores. Grapeland leads Class A with 129.3, Bearcats second at 129.1.

Comanche Community Fund Drive Set for October Campaign

Directors met on September 23 to elect officers and name a drive chairman for the 1975 campaign. David Taylor will lead as Drive Chairman with an October 1 kickoff and a 31 day drive ending October 31. The stated goal is 8500 dollars with allocations to Salvation Army Red Cross Jr. Livestock Show Boy Scouts Campfire Girls MH/MR and others. A September 30 meeting will distribute materials and volunteers will be contacted to support the drive.

Peanut Farm Tour Planned For Oct 2 1975

From M. Key County Extension Agent the peanut farm tour is set for October 2 from 1 30 p m to about 4 30 p m meeting at Hasse Community Center. Stops include Jerry Stark farm and Bob Mull farm with demonstrations on terraclor use for Southern Blight nematode control leaf spot hydrothermo graphs to predict disease and the Peanut Pest Management program. Dr Thomas A Lee Area Plant Pathologist of Stephenville and Joe Curtis County Entomologist will discuss peanut diseases and insects. All farmers and interested people are invited to attend.

Bachus Takes New School Post

The School Board met in a called session on September 18 and accepted the resignation of James Bachus as Tax Collector effective October 1. He will take the post of Tax Assessor Collector for Stephenville 1.8.D. Linda McKeehan was named Interim Tax Collector until a permanent replacement is found.

Johnny Dickey Wins Comanche Chief Football Contest

Johnny Dickey of 197 North Ervin won the Comanche Chief football contest with a perfect entry and a $5 prize. He nearly nailed the tie breaker predicting 48 points as Lamar scored two fewer. Honorable mention goes to ten who missed only two games. Comanche hosts Dublin in the homecoming game with queen crowned Saturday night.
