In Winnsboro Texas supporters of former Senator Joseph W Bailey allege voting irregularities from the August 28 primary. Attorney T M Newsome says 142 affidavits show Bailey backers voting for him but official returns show 95 votes. district court authorities will review as the Quitman grand jury meets.

Mary Jane Poyner Pioneer Citizen of Comanche Dies
Mary Jane Poyner a longtime Comanche County resident died last Sunday at her Copperas Creek home ten miles north of Comanche. Born in 1850 in Arkansas she married Wm J Poyner in 1867 and survived by fourteen children. Funeral at Oakwood Cemetery conducted by Rev C C Klingman. interment followed after a long life of frontier service and charity.

Ballinger Texas Sept 14 three hundred farmers met and voted to hang on to their cotton seed until buyers offer fifty dollars per ton. Some declined to pledge but no vote against the proposition was cast. They discussed picking prices but did not fix a price, leaving payment up to each farmer’s customary rate.
