The notice outlines plans for the reopening of a beauty shop in the Ritz Building and a 64 hour cafe next weekend. It lists various sales including sweaters, used appliances, and clothing at Henderson's and Warren service ads. Shopping items include butane, cigarettes, and a first prize heating tank supply.
A spree Saturday night and Sunday morning saw multiple burglaries in Comanche County. Wilson's Lake Eanes Road home was entered via a cut screen and pried window, with about $600 in cash taken from a suitcase. The Nelson home near Highway 36 was robbed of bedclothes, clothing, a radio, and other items. A 1954 Ford was stolen from near the hospital, later recovered at Meridian. A suspect confessed to the car theft and is jailed in Cleburne on a check forgery charge. he is AWOL from the military. Sheriff Belve Bean and Texas Ranger George Roch assisted in the investigations.
Stephenville Production Credit Association celebrated the opening of its new field office building with 200 members and guests. Mayor John Hall and Association Director Tom Mazurek of Comanche cut the ribbon, with James Bumpas hosting and brief remarks from R. Cal McCurdy of Decatur and Rev. Sterling Isham.
The body of 70 year old Marvin Barrett a Wilson community rancher in Comanche County was found Monday morning after a weekend search that began Sunday afternoon. Deputy Fox said Barrett was last seen Sunday afternoon with his twin brother when he walked a pasture to find a missing bull. The death was ruled natural likely a heart attack.
Farmers and ranchers of Comanche County are advised of an ASC County Committee election to be held Wednesday September 28 1960 at 9:00 a.m. at the ASC Office in Comanche. Delegates to the County Convention include recently elected chairmen from community committees with names and routes across Comanche County and neighboring towns.
The next regular monthly meeting of the Comanche County Dairy Association will be held at 8:00 oclock Tuesday night, Sept. 20, in the Comanche County Courthouse. All dairymen in Comanche County are urged to attend to elect officers for another year.
Comanche County ASC manager announces no authorization to accept more land into the Conservation Reserve program this year. Farmers are warned not to delay cropping plans due to uncertain expansion by Congress. Also notes J C Gaddy and spouse will visit relatives in the Carolinas for three weeks.
Comanche Indians open their home grid season hosting defending bi district champions Cisco Lobos at Indian Memorial Stadium. Kickoff 8 p m. Cisco beat Eastland 28 0 last week while Comanche edged by Coleman 20 8 in a strong showing. Injuries improving with McKinzie, Brooks, Sanford and Todd listed as key players returning to action.
The list of petit jurors called for Monday October 3 in District Court includes many residents from Comanche De Leon Gustine Dublin Indian Gap and Lamkin districts. Jurors named include Mrs EF B Atwood Margaret Burks Ey Hicks Percy L Parsons J D Walker Jack Donohue Gayle McGinnis Joy Lee Williams Ray Kenneth and others.
Clarence A. Rea, 76, died at his home 801 E Grand after years of ill health following a two day pneumonia. Tentative services planned here Saturday with final rites at the Lutheran Church in Pottsville and burial in Pottsville Cemetery. He was son of late Mr and Mrs T K Rea, ranchers of Ham Mulligans Return Home Mr and Mrs Sol Mulligan return from a three week trip to Arkansas and Tennessee.
The Martha Circle of the Women's Society of Christian Service at First Methodist Church Comanche will stage a rummage sale on Saturday Oct 1 at the former Chief building East Side Square. Circle members request donations of rummage and ask donors to contact any circle member.
