The Comanche County Commissioners Court set the tax rate at fifty cents for general purposes while road tax is off. The plan items the General Fund at 15c, Road Fund 15c, Pauper 5c, Jail and Court House 2c, Jury Fund 2c, Public Fund 5c with precinct adjustments. The overall rate remains the lowest in Texas, with No 5 precinct increasing road tax to 60c. Desole to De Leon area remains the boundary.

CCC Camps Open Doors to October Enrollment

Farmer Tom V Wilson Freed on Federal Bond in Extortion Case
Tom V. Wilson a 28 year old Comanche County farmer charged with extortion and connected to a staged bombing threat was released on a 5000 dollar bond after transfer to the Federal Court in Fort Worth. Bond was signed by Henry W. Scott and Walter Fritts of Van Dyke. The extortion note to Siddons warned of bombs unless a 2500 dollar ransom was paid. Siddons placed a dummy package at a marked site and Wilson was arrested as he retrieved it. Wilson had previously worked for Siddons.
