Funeral Held For Mrs Sam Vernon
Funeral services were held at Brownwood for Mrs. Sam Vernon widow of a noted publisher of The Comanche Chief in the late 1880s and 1890s. She died in New York Thursday of last week. She is survived by a daughter Mrs. Allen Temple of New York and a sister Mrs. Jim Baker of San Saba. She operated the Pecan Valley News after her husband’s death before moving to New York.

Mrs. Mary Carolyn Haddaman Moore 63 long resident of Comanche County died Sept 6 after a lengthy illness at her daughter's home. Funeral services were held at Cross and interment followed in Stag Creek Cemetery with grandsons acting as pallbearers. She was born August 23 1864 in Illinois and was the widow of J A Moore. She leaves multiple children including A O Moore Almon Moore Arvel Moore Mrs Malissia Taylor Hugh Moore and Mrs C plus 27 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Wilburn Lee Hicks 84 were held at First Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Scott and Rev. R. L. Bowman presiding. Interment followed in Indian Creek Cemetery. Hicks died September 8 at a daughter’s home in Rule and was born September 15, 1863 in Dalton Georgia. He lived in Indian Creek community for over six decades and leaves multiple children and relatives across Rule Comanche Lubbock and other Texas towns.

Ivon E. Pritchard 34 foreman for the REA was killed instantly when a London & Burton ambulance collided with a Comanche REA pickup nine miles west of Comanche on the Sidney Logan Gap road. Aubrey Davis and Travis Everett were hospitalized with injuries. Si Kibler and E A Smith Jr. were hurt less severely.
