Revival Begins Here in Comanche September 12

The annual Gospel meeting at the Comanche Church of Christ runs from September 12 to September 22 with Horace W. Busby of Fort Worth as evangelist. Damon Smith of Lake Victor leads the song service. Services are held twice daily at 10 a.m. and 7:45 p.m.

The Woman's Society of Christian Service held its first fall Mission Study session Monday at the Methodist Church parlor with eighteen members present. Mrs Logan Williams led the lesson from Commit ted Unto Us, while Mrs Schulze gave the devotional on Love. The group plans a social hour September 8 at 3 p.m. inviting Sidney church ladies to join.

Comanche Horses Shine at Llano Show and State Fair

Comanche County Quarter Horses dominated Llano events with J. W. Carters yearling stud placing first and Shorty Gore’s Honey Chile taking second in the 1947 5A class. Royal King owned by Earl Albin won get-of-sire with Belve Bean’s Lightning placing fourth, while In colt and filly divisions saw top placings. Lewis Sawyer of Dudley Bros. Ranch earned second in baby filly and third in mare. Most horses will compete again at the State Fair of Texas next month as Carter’s Sunny plans entry in Fort Worth’s World Palominoma event.

VEW Organizes Ladies Auxiliary in Brownwood

The Comanche VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 8235 held a special meeting Friday night August 18 to organize color bearers officers and trustees. District officers from Brownwood and Abilene attended as Mrs Johnnye McKinzie president Mrs Sally Lacy senior vice president and others were named. Meetings are the first and third Mondays at Veterans Building and membership is open to wives sisters and mothers of servicemen and veterans of World Wars I or II.

New Ward School Building Here is Completed

The new West Ward elementary school in Comanche is finished and ready for use. Built by J. T. Pate Construction at about 30 000 dollars, the ten class room facility includes a small auditorium option, new fixtures, gas heaters, hardwood floors, and white exterior plaster.

New Highway Traffic Law to Be Rigidly Enforced in Comanche County
