Funeral Rites Held At Downing For B F Cadenhead

Funeral rites were held Thursday afternoon at the Downing Methodist Church for B F Cadenhead 78 of Comanche. Elder Sam Short of De Leon presided in the Primitive Baptist church he chose. Interment followed at Downing Cemetery. Cadenhead, born September 4 1868 in Realton Alabama, lived in De Leon and Downing areas and in the Lower Rio Grande Valley before returning to Comanche County. He married Lima Beaty at Downing at age 24. she died in 1936. He lived with his sister Maratha Cadenhead and had a brother Joe in Comanche and sister Sallie Allen of Rucker. He served two terms in the Texas State Legislature from his district.

County Budget Hearing Sets Tax Rate Action by Court

The Commissioners Court will meet Monday morning September 8 at 10 o'clock for a public budget hearing. After the budget approval the county tax rate will be set. County Judge O E Rippey notes the current rate is 66 cents. The court has finished its equalization on property rendered for county taxes.

Mrs. J G Curb 74 died suddenly Monday morning after a heart attack. Funeral services were at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Rev J L Hallford. Interment at Duren Cemetery. Arthur Lee Morris Receives Successful Heart Operation

Arthur Lee Morris, four year old son of Mr and Mrs Wyatt Lee Morris of Comanche, underwent a delicate heart surgery at Children's Hospital in Dallas on Saturday August 17. Dr J W Duckett led a team of five doctors and three nurses in a five hour and twenty five minute operation. The boy, a familiar figure in Sidney and Comanche, has shown steady improvement and his heart color has returned toward normal after the procedure. Castle B Ellis, Comanche uncle, notes the boy’s condition has improved along with his strength.
