Three New Officials Win Run-Off Primary with Big Margins

In a crowded run-off, Hew State Rep narrowly defeats F. L. Little for the district seat. Voters also elected Jesse Reese Commissioner of Precinct No. 2 and H. S. Freeman Commissioner of Precinct No. 4. Otis R. Coker won District Clerk, while E. Heatly claimed State Representative District 104. Beauford Jester carried Comanche County for Governor in a lopsided county tally.

Frank Cadenhead Taken By Death

Former state representative and longtime Comanche resident Frank Cadenhead died at his home Wednesday. Funeral services were held Thursday at Downing Methodist Church with burial in Downing Cemetery.

Record Number Of Students Are Off To College

Seventy five Comanche youths including many WWI veterans leave for colleges statewide. At least seventeen will attend John Tarleton College, fourteen choose North Texas Teachers College, with athletes headed to Texas Christian University. Others enroll at Texas A M University, University of Texas, North Texas State Teachers College, Howard Payne, Texas Tech, Daniel Baker, Mary Hardin Baylor, Baylor, Abilene Christian, Dallas Business College, TSCW, Schreiner Institute, Rice, Wheaton College, and more listings include names such as Weldon Edwards, Hubert Eoff, Richard Armstrong, Joe Carnes, and Ruth Johns ie Pate.

George Willis Takes Post At State National Bank

George Willis of Comanche, longtime educator and county leader, resigns as Assistant County Superintendent of Education to join the State National Bank of Comanche. He taught in Pettit and Gustine schools before thirty years in the county system. Pat Cagle, bank president, welcomes Willis and notes his public trust experience will aid his new role beginning September 9.

Revival to Begin at Comanche Church of Christ
