Rain May Signal Normal Peanut Crop Prices Shift on Test Basis

Men Accepted For Service In Army From Comanche County

The Comanche County Selective Service Board announces men have been accepted for the Army and will leave for induction on September 18. Henry Harold Clark is accepted but date not announced. Several others left for the week but official reports are not received. George Ward and daughter and Mrs Butler spent the first of the week.

George G. Smith of Comanche takes a responsible ee technician post in Fort Worth as the American Legion offers a Christmas cigarette gift program. For 65c each, up to five cartons may be sent to any uniformed service member across the United States, with Legion handling details for Comanche County families. 69th Annual Baptist Assoc Meeting at Lake Eanes Park

The 69th Annual Baptist Association of Comanche County meets September 2 to 5, 1943 at Lake Eanes Park Comanche. Activities include devotions readings reports by Lyel Swearengin Neehem and others, home and foreign mission updates Buckner Orphans Home special music missionary sermon and committee meetings. Edwards receives praise from D. B. Ellis Shop Master at Pearl Harbor for his splendid efforts in the Hawaiian War Zone. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Edwards of Comanche and a former Comanche High School football and basketball star. He has worked in Hawaii for about a year.

Dale Howard Receives Master's Degree from University of Texas

County Superintendent Dale Howard was awarded a Master of Arts degree by the University of Texas on August 29. Other local educators with master's degrees include W. Compton Kirk Pettit and J. B. Cooper. Howard also holds bachelor degrees.

Comanche Public Schools will open Monday despite some vacant faculty positions. Superintendent W Z Compton said readiness is complete and high school students have largely finished registration and scheduling. The district expects a good term with high quality work despite war conditions.

Milton Connally Elected High School Science Teacher

Milton Connally of Dublin was elected science teacher at Comanche High School this week and will assist with the athletic program. He recently received a medical discharge from the United States Navy and is moving with Mrs. Connally to Comanche.

Kindergarten Will Open Here Monday

The kindergarten will open Monday September 6 with Director Mrs. Y. W. Holmes at 502 West Walcott Avenue. The term runs from 1:00 in the afternoon, replacing a morning session, with activities extending into the later afternoon. Children may attend the full afternoon or the three hour period. Those who nap in the afternoon may continue their routine.
