Registration for high school seniors juniors sophomores and freshmen is scheduled across September 1. Open chapel exercises set for 10 30 A M in the High School Auditorium with visitors welcome. Fugitive Held Here On Chicken Theft Charges
Buel Alexander a nine year fugitive is jailed here facing chicken theft charges. He has used multiple aliases and was arrested near Weatherford after eluding Comanche Brown and Young County officers. He escaped Graham jail in 1930 and traveled Texas on chicken raids with an alarm clock and sacks.

City Softball Playoffs Underway Among Top Teams Higginbotham and Fagan
The City Softball League playoff between Higginbotham and Fagan began with Higginbotham defeating Chevrolet men 14 to 12. Higginbotham and Fagan tied for first in the regular season, Dudley took third, and last year’s champions W.O.W. finished last. The series continues Friday and Monday with extra games possible on Tuesday and Thursday. The series will determine the city champion in a best three of five.

Dr D R Lane dentist son of Mr and Mrs J O Lane of Comanche has opened an office in the old City Hall Building south of the Comanche National Bank. He comes from Groesbeck where he practiced a year after graduating from Comanche High School in 1930 and completing dentistry at Baylor College Dallas.

Name Given To US Highway 67 Route In Big Bend Area
Gene Arnold of Austin won a highway naming contest for the US highway 67 route reaching Big Bend area. The award was announced at the Hi 67 Association annual meeting in Comanche County courthouse. Officers elected include H W Morelock as president and J C Thompson and W O Cooper as officers. Proposals to improve the Big Bend Trail include funding from Fort Stockton to Brewster County line, surface treatment from Pecos County line to east of Alpine, a 1 mile gap south of Marfa, and modernization of the Glen Rose to Dallas County line segment.

Dr. DeWitt Klaunch of Dallas will establish his office in Comanche Monday morning. He will occupy the Higginbotham Building space formerly used by Dr. Nelson Smith. A Baylor Medical College graduate, he did his internship at New Orleans Baptist Hospital and served a year as a resident in surgery. He will bring his wife and one year old daughter to Comanche, living in Mrs. W. H. Carpenter’s apartment.
