Dyke Unity Club Meets For October Planning

The Dyke Unity Club held an October pre school building event inspired by county neighborhoods. Agricultural Agent Ray and County Superintendent Elzo attended providing suggestions. Jack, president, and Mrs. Tom, secretary treasurer, led the meeting where punch and cups were served. Next meeting set for November 5.

World Community Day Promotes Clothing Drive by Four Comanche Churches

The United Council of Church Women of Comanche sponsors World Community Day on November 3 at 7:30 in Central Christian Church. Four Comanche Churches gather clothing size 16 men to ship to Greece Japan and Austria, filling duffel bags at Christian Methodist Presbyterian and Episcopal churches. Mrs. Joe H. Tupin leads the council and urges strong attendance. Dr A T DeGroot of Texas Christian University is scheduled to speak.

Henry Gregory Wins Chief's Football Guessing Contest

Henry C Gregory of Comanche won last week’s Comanche Chief Football guessing contest after predicting 9 of 10 winners. Donald Hall of the Comanche National Bank placed second and Grady Ripley received a year’s subscription to the Chief. A new contest with fresh prizes is underway this week as Comanche High hosts Coleman in district play.

The Comanche FHA to serve supper at CHS carnival during Halloween. Flower show themed Yesterday Today and Tomorrow ran Oct 22 from 2 to 9 pm in homes of local members with blue red and yellow ribbons awarded for living rooms dining rooms bedrooms and more. Comanche FHA invites public to CHS Halloween carnival with beef burgers pie and coffee on the tennis courts starting at 6 pm.

A senior Boy Scout Troop formed with 14 boys aged 12 to 14 signing up at the opening meeting. FE. W. Gleaton named Scoutmaster with J. E. Watson and George Dillin as assistants. Comanche FFA member profits from turkey project

Charles Burks son of Mr and Mrs Hayes Burks raised 600 turkey poults bought at 70 cents each starting March 24. He tended them while juggling school duties and a lumberyard job. By fall he sold hens and toms for profits and expects to clear about 600 dollars with plans to raise turkeys again next spring.

Amos Tries Jail Death By Own Action In Brownwood

Gilbert Amos 39 native of t mancha attempted suicide with a gas hose in his Brown County jail cell after a five page note to the press and wife was found. Jailer Doug Jarvis and Brown County Emergency Unit responders revived him with a resuscitation panel vehicle. Amos and cellmate Braswell face multiple charges, with Braswell recent armed robbery and burglary sentences in several counties and Amos serving terms for burglaries and auto theft.
