Sue Carter, daughter of Ma Carter, is listed as a senior at Texas. She recently received a cash scholarship for achievement. Ward and Walter de are noted as participants in the ceremony with valedictorian honors at the high school.
The Sidney Eagles travel to Star for an undefeated six-man showdown. Both teams seek the district crown with a win likely to position the victor as the clear favorite.
The event starts Wednesday November 16 and runs five weeks ending December 14 with Santa Day. A $150 cash prize will be awarded, and each Wednesday features special music, novelty attractions, and merchants offering Goodwill Days values.

Comanche’s latest Scout Drive raised nearly 1400 dollars, a record for the area. Pat Cagle led the drive as local finance chairman with 330.65 dollars allocated to local Scouting and 1014 to the district headquarters in Brownwood. The campaign followed a Tuesday morning kick off and rapid turnout as Cub, Boy, and Senior Scouts joined in, reflecting strong local interest and reorganized units attracting new members.
Co Manche High School Band traveled to Fort Worth on Thursday October 28 to hear the U S Marine Band known as the Presidents Band. A cornet soloist drew three encores and the Circus novelty number painted vivid scenes while the audience imagined the big top. Mr Atwood credits the visit with inspiring every band member to strive as musicians after hearing the Marine Band.
Plans are fixed for the Comanche Jaycees Turkey Shoot to be held Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12, one mile west of Comanche near the Rodeo Grounds. Events include live turkey shooting at 85 yards, target shooting, and rifle sighting with entry fees from 50 cents to 1.50. Free registrations daily. a turkey awarded each day. proceeds fund street markets in Comanche.

Alvin Hafford and C. D. Swearingen launch Comanche Motor Company at the former Carnes Motor Company site 806 East Central Comanche offering new and used cars and plans for a future car agency. A mechanical repair department will be run by Doc Grayson. Hafford brings 29 years of sales experience. Swearingen has continuously worked in autos since 1928 except for four years. The owners invite the public to visit.
Sunday Schools across the area report total attendance of 1234 for October 30, up from the prior week. Comanche Lions Club president Dr. H H Galbraith and secretary Clyde House attended a Lionstone meeting in Hamilton Tuesday night with eleven clubs represented in the district. A U S Bureau of Labor was created in 1884.
The Jaycees announce a city wide house numbering project in Comanche. A volunteer will number any unnumbered house if residents call 401 or 344 and leave their name and street. Those able to pay may contribute. those unable to pay will be numbered free of charge when possible.
Mrs Edwin Sartor, Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, attended the State Convention in San Antonio last week. She was accompanied by Mrs Mahon of De Leon. The text notes the scalp muscle as the occipitofrontalis.
Clyde Honea is hired into the new and used automobile sales and service department at Arthur Chevrolet in Comanche. Owner E Arthur notes his move from Abilene eight years ago, with experience in auto sales, finance and servicing, and says Honea will handle motor overhauls body work refinishing and related tasks. The couple, Morene and Clyde Honea, attend First Baptist Church of Comanche and invite public contact at the new location.
Comanche High School Indians, 3-3-1, prepare to face Lake View Chiefs in a 7-AA showdown. Lake View shocked Ballinger 19-13 last week, boosting its league standing, while Comanche upset Coleman 19-0 to stay in title contention. The Indians emphasize strong line play and a versatile backfield led by Don Butts and Lacan Iban Wilson as they seek a win to remain in the 7-AA race.
