CHS Band Hears U S Marine Band In Fort Worth

Co Manche High School Band traveled to Fort Worth on Thursday October 28 to hear the U S Marine Band known as the Presidents Band. A cornet soloist drew three encores and the Circus novelty number painted vivid scenes while the audience imagined the big top. Mr Atwood credits the visit with inspiring every band member to strive as musicians after hearing the Marine Band.

Plans are fixed for the Comanche Jaycees Turkey Shoot to be held Friday and Saturday, November 11 and 12, one mile west of Comanche near the Rodeo Grounds. Alvin Hafford and C. D. Swearingen launch Comanche Motor Company at the former Carnes Motor Company site 806 East Central Comanche offering new and used cars and plans for a future car agency. A mechanical repair department will be run by Doc Grayson. Hafford brings 29 years of sales experience. Swearingen has continuously worked in autos since 1928 except for four years. The owners invite the public to visit.

Attendance Reports From Sunday Schools Rise In Area

Sunday Schools across the area report total attendance of 1234 for October 30, up from the prior week. Comanche Lions Club president Dr. H H Galbraith and secretary Clyde House attended a Lionstone meeting in Hamilton Tuesday night with eleven clubs represented in the district. The Jaycees announce a city wide house numbering project in Comanche. A volunteer will number any unnumbered house if residents call 401 or 344 and leave their name and street. Those able to pay may contribute. those unable to pay will be numbered free of charge when possible.
