Report Eight Indictments Thursday

The Grand Jury returned eight indictments on Thursday, including five for burglary and one for theft. Two misdemeanors relate to sales imprisonment.

Barn Fire Destroys Randal Farm Structures and Stock

A Friday night blaze on Will Randals farm near Shilo destroyed a $2,500 barn and its contents. W A Wilson awakened at 10 o'clock to find the roof sagging as water was unavailable and no effort made to fight the fire. The barn was insured for 1,500, but the contents owned by Wilson and Rand al were uninsured. loss included 20 tons of maize 400 bushels of oats 200 bushels of corn cotton seed Ford truck and harnesses.

First New Ford Made Thursday in Local Report

Authentic information states Henry Ford’s new model car was completed last Thursday October 20 with ceremonies marking it as No 1 by Ford himself. A Ford dealer says dealers expect production in quantity to begin Monday the 24 and a daily output of twelve thousand cars.

Comanche Lions Promote New Band Organization

With forty applications on file for membership the Comanche Lions Club records support to form a city band. Pat Howard, who organized the De Leon Band, will direct the ensemble with two rehearsals weekly and free private lessons for members. The project aims to include youths and beginners, funded by Lions Club and local businesses, with Howard volunteering to train church orchestras and Sunday schools.

Schools Receive Second Payment For 1927 28 Apportionment

The State Department of Education provides the second dollar of the $15 per capita apportionment for 1927 28. Comanche County receives $5 100 with $2 372 allotted to independent schools and $2 728 to common districts. At least $2 more may arrive before Christmas. H L Gantz resigns after seven years as Comanche County superintendent effective December 1. Romeo Walker, former assistant county superintendent, is named to finish the term ending January 1, 1929. Gantz becomes Educational Field Director for Texas Farm and Ranch and Holland’s Magazine.
