Picture Machine For Proctor School Debuts Friday

The Proctor Public School bought a picture show machine and showcased a splendid reel in the school auditorium Friday night to a large crowd. The PTA plans Friday programs and funded the purchase by selling candy downtown Saturday to raise their first funds.

Long Buys Moodys Dairy In Comanche Transfer

J. B. Moody sold his north Comanche dairy to D. W. Long who moved the Moody cows to his dairy south of town. Long will consolidate the two operations and took charge of the Moody dairy on Tuesday.

Announcement on Tuesday that Hart Shoemaker and Hardy Jones bought an interest in Mackey Motor Company. Shoemaker will join actively. Mackey remains in management. Jones has been with Mackey since 1920. Shoemaker started in Comanche with Meadows Grocery and entered telephones in 1919.

King Boys Get Life Sentence in Haskell Killing

Walter King aged 20 and his brother Joe 18 of Comanche County received life terms in the state penitentiary for the killing of nightwatchman J. K. Beaucamp in Haskell on October 23, 1926. The defense noted the youths’ age and there would be no appeal.

Shoemaker Sells Local Telephone Plant to Waco Group

Hart Shoemaker sold the Comanche and Gustine telephone plants to L S Gardner and associates of Waco who will take charge once transfer details are done. Gardner's group are experienced telephone operators with multiple central Texas exchanges. Local staff will be retained and operations to continue as before.

New Ford Model Promises Lincoln-like Luxury

P K Mackey returning from Dallas reports Ford plans for a new car with longer lower lines four wheel brakes standard gearshift and upscale appointments rivaling cars priced 1000 to 1200 dollars. John Morris cites Henry Ford approval and says Texas samples go out in November with production by January first. In Comanche County the County Commissioners approve terracing aid using road machinery December and January at 3 50 per hour for large machines and 3 00 for small machines.

Gins Set Dates For Operating Days

Three gins announce reduced schedules with operation on two days weekly. They will open Tuesday November 8 and Thursday November 15, then Tuesday November 15 and Thursday November 17 the following week. No office staff will be available on Armistice Day Friday November 11.

House To Operate Pennant Station

J. P. Howard sold the Pennant Filling Station and Garage to W. T. House and son Emmett Earl. They took over Tuesday with Emmett in active charge and will continue a general filling station and garage handling all Peirce Oil Corporation products.

Laymen Program At Zion Hill

The Comanche Laymen's Association meets every Friday at 7 15 p m during November at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Officers for three months are to be elected tonight. A program at Zion Hill is planned for Sunday November 6 at 3 p m with songs prayers scripture and talks by local leaders.

Comanche County announces the quail season will open December 1 this year reversing last year’s November 15 start. Game Wardens aim to inform the public of the date change and urge hunters to comply with the new opening.

Bear Cats Trim Indians In Annual Gridiron Grudge

Friday afternoon at the local field the Comanche B’gh School Indians fall 6 to 0 to their rivals the De Leon Bear Cats. Indian passing woes and a late penalty by head lineman Feote aided De Leon, Captain Pulliam driving to the one yard line. A large crowd witnessed the traditional clash with parade and stunts, keeping the race for the county title tight on percentage. Superintendent Barrett notes a possible Thanksgiving rematch between the two schools in Comanche County.
