School Board weighs elementary crowding and tax relief plan
In a special session the board noted crowded elementary classes with 35 in first grade and kindergarten classes of 37 and 32. Superintendent jefferies said no rooms are available and new classrooms may be added later. The board approved notifying the tax office to reimburse seniors who qualify for the Homestead exemption and address eligibility errors. No action taken on the high school building program.

District Court Returns Verdicts in Three Trials
Three cases tried in the S2nd Judicial District yielded two guilty verdicts and one not guilty. Bill Wilson was found guilty of attempt to murder a peace officer and sentenced to three years in the Texas Department of Corrections. He has prior convictions for rape and arson and was transferred to Huntsville this week. Charles Senger was convicted of a DWI subsequent offense and received a two year probation. Glen Eugene Phifer was acquitted of a DWI subsequent offense. District Judge Byron Mc Clellan presided. Bobby Cummings prosecuted.

Immunization Clinic Slated for October 28 in Austin
Comanche Public Schools released details of an immunization clinic on October 28 from 11 00 to 4 30. The State Health Team from Abilene will administer injections including DPT oral polio measles and for ages six weeks and college students. The clinic will take place in Mims Building South Austin.
