Cotton Receipts Increase Comanche Yard Season Totals

Forty four bales of cotton arrived at the Comanche Cotton Yard on Wednesday, lifting the season total to 21095 compared with about 1300 bales for last season. Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Cotton and Peanut Prices Rise in Comanche District

Cotton topped 6.40 a bale in Comanche Tuesday up from 4.40 three weeks earlier, boosting farmer earnings by 500 to 750 dollars daily as 50 to 75 bales were marketed. Peanuts brought 0.43 rise in Comanche, near season-opening levels but 10 cents above the prior low. Gustine gins processed 645 bales last Friday, with an 800-bale season forecast. Gustine shipped three cars of peanuts Friday and expects ten cars total, noting slightly lower yield but better quality than last year.

More Fish Placed in Lake Eanes from Hatchery Sources

About 4,000 fish were added to Lake Eanes on Wednesday including 1,500 bass 1,000 evogeled eyed perch 1,000 beam and nearly 200 channel cat. The stock came from the State Hatchery at Cisco and a West Texas stream.

Special venire set for Paul McCarty murder case

The Paul McCarty murder case is set for Monday November 2 with an avenue of 100 men summoned for jury selection. Allen and Allen of Hamilton defend McCarty, District Attorney Tom Robinson prosecutes. McCarty, in Hamilton jail since September 15 for allegedly shooting his father L. P. McCarty, is to stand trial at nine in the morning. A second venire was selected and 60 more names appear on the list. The case arose after a loan dispute tied to a lien on the farm. Multiple local residents listed as potential jurors are named.
