Special Officer Elmer Little and Deputy Turner Sanders pursued a Chevrolet touring car near Hazel Dell Tuesday night about nine o'clock. Evan Roberts a former Logan Gap farmer was crushed by a cotton bale in Nolan County last week. Dr H H Sanford Brownwood said the accident occurred while he was working. Roberts left Blanket for Scurry County years ago and is survived by his widow and several children. His sister is Mrs Lena L Jones of Sidney.
Mrs. Dick Stanley resigns as postmaster at Proctor effective upon successor’s appointment. She had served since 1900, succeeding her husband in 1910, resigning due to her health and the illness of her son J. F. Stanley.
Miss Velda Franks leased the Snappy Cafe from Mr and Mrs Bert Black on Wednesday and assumed control Thursday. She has three years of cafe experience at Riley Restaurant and six months as manager of a leased business, with Herbert Butler assisting.

Mr and Mrs Hugh S Clarke and daughters Barbara and Betty spent the weekend with their parents Mr and Mrs Charles Clarke and with Mrs W F Rogers, recalling the family gathering at the manor.
Resident Engineer J. G. Irby leaves Monday for Langtry in Val Verde County to oversee six miles of highway on the Brownsville to El Paso road. Mrs. Irby follows later. Irby recently completed engineering on the Leon River Bridge and previously led Highway No. 10 construction. John D. Waring, Jr. will join him in Val Verde and has worked on the Leon Bridge.
