Pvt Bill Conner 18 of Brownwood formerly Comanche died in North Africa on October 7 from injuries received during the Allied invasion of Sicily. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre in Africa, paratroop division member, survived by parents, a brother and two sisters. Special memorial services set for Sunday night at a Brownwood Baptist Church.

Napoleon M. Thomas of Comanche rose from private on October 29, 1942 to master sergeant by September 15 this year at Frederick Army Air Field Ohio.
