The Seventeenth District American Legion Convention will be held in De Leon on October 22 and 23. A memorial service is planned for 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the Methodist Church with Chaplain Bryan Keathley officiating. Johnston dies of pistol wound at Gustine home
Ruben Hardy Johnston fifty died from a pistol wound at his Gustine residence Tuesday afternoon. Funeral services were held Wednesday at his brother O D Johnston home with Rev McGinnis and Rev S J Isham officiating. Interment was Hazel Dell Cemetery. He left a barber shop visit and a business trip to Comanche earlier that day. He is survived by two daughters and several brothers and sisters. He worked for the Higginbotham firm in Gustine and was regarded as a high class citizen.

Indictments Totals Revealed by Comanche County Grand Jury
Twenty indictments had been returned by the Comanche County grand jury in district court to Friday morning. Bills include six for driving while drunk five for burglary four for forgery two for child desertion two for wife desertion and one for swindling. The jury is expected to file its final report today.
