Rainfall from Sunday to Tuesday brought Comanche County to a 1957 total of 36.19 inches with 4.33 inches officially recorded at the Fire Station. John Landers Honored By Soil Conservationists

John D. Landers, longtime Soil Conservationist for the Gustine and Hazeldel area, was honored at the Sunset Cafe in Dublin for his outstanding work with the Dublin Work Unit staff during 1955 and 1956. The event, hosted by SCS employees from Comanche, Dublin, Stephenville, De Leon and Eastland, included a Certificate of Merit signed by H. N. Smith and a $135 check from the SCS, presented by W. R. Heizer and R. C. Madeley. Landers began with the CCC Camp at Dublin in 1935 and has served at Gatesville, San Saba, Goldthwaite, and Dublin, rising from conservation aide to range and soil conservationist.
