Bank deposits in the two Comanche banks on September 30 totaled 4,114,481.30, up from 4,398,709.97 on June 30. De Leon F and M National Bank held 2,407,307.94, up from 2,621,338.25. First State Bank Gustine reported 413,104.98, down from 435,562.79. Loans and discounts totaled 1,223,729.22 across the Comanche banks, up from 815,886.02. Absentee Voting Begins for Two Elections in One County

Hicks Convicted Of Court Contempt Files Appeal Notice
Elmer Hicks of Comanche was found guilty in district court this week of contempt of court, fined 100 dollars and sentenced to three days in jail. His attorney Gib Callaway filed immediate notice of appeal to the Court of Civil Appeals in Eastland. Assistant Attorney General Anderson and County Attorney Robert Long led the prosecution before District Judge R. B. Cross. A temporary injunction had restrained Hicks from possessing liquor for sale. A later county court case will address liquor possession for sale.
