Funeral Rites at Proctor for Mrs Minnie Wilson

Funeral services were held Thursday at Proctor Baptist Church for Mrs Minnie John Wilson with interment in the local cemetery. She died in Dallas Wednesday at the home of her son Coke, with whom she had been visiting for a month.

Finance Drive For Scouts Is Announced

Charley Marshall announces the Dawn to Dusk fund drive for the Comanche Trail Council of the Boy Scouts with an Early Bird Breakfast on October 31 at 7 a.m. James Slider leads about 70 volunteers who will each seek five donations. W. S. Brewer coordinates advance gifts to target major donors before the breakfast. Funds support eight county Scouting efforts and Camp Billy Gibbons in San Saba County and Troop 47 attendances.

Radar man third class Kenneth H Johnston, son of Mr and Mrs William H Johnston of Comanche Texas and husband of Mrs Kenneth H Johnston of Los Angeles California, recently arrived in Long Beach aboard the heavy cruiser USS Bremerton after a Far East tour. Bremerton fired 12000 rounds destroying 268 bunkers 44 mortar positions 4 large supply dumps and 5 large fuel depots. She operated from front lines near Korea's northern boundary.

Herbert L. Brown 1902 194? Dies at Mercer Gap Home

Herbert L. Brown, 9, Comanche County insurance agent and longtime Mercer Gap resident, died at home Friday afternoon after a stroke. Funeral services were held at Mercer Gap Baptist Church with Rev. Holmes officiating and burial in Mercer Gap Cemetery. Survived by mother Hester Simmons Brown, sister Mrs. Walter Gray, sister Mrs. Naomi Perry, and other relatives.
