Texas attorney general clarifies suffrage law: 1919 poll tax receipts or exemption certificates suffice for voters until Oct 21, 1920. those voting after Feb 1, 1921 must pay 1920 poll tax, obtain receipts by Feb 1, 1920. 1921 exemptions and 1921 assessments noted.
The notice announces a close out sale on Crystal White and White Bermuda Onion Sets priced to cents per gallon. Todd and Jennings are the figures behind the sale.

Charles H Cunningham adjunct business administration and government employed as commercial attaché in Mexico City. W M Miller adjunct electrical engineering continuing studies for higher degrees at MIT. Frank M Stewart government instructor taking advanced courses at Columbia this year.
Alva Cox formerly assistant cashier at First State Bank in town traveled from Brownwood for a few hours on Tuesday. He is connected with Coggin National Bank there and is doing well.
Oak Cliff high schedules a football game here Friday October 22. The Indians boast a 24 man squad under coach Johnny Fouts who played at Baylor and earned all state honors. They have defeated McKinney Weatherford and Ferris and are seen as strong state title contenders.
The Merry Matrons hosted a gathering at Mrs J B Chilton's home. Bridge clubs met at Mrs L Odell and Mrs G A Chitton's homes with high scores awarded to Ed win Palmer and badges to Cunningham and Thomas. Mrs T R Helmsley and Miss Alice Ballou met ex Confederates in Houston amid reverent crowds and bands. Bishop Moore of Dallas preached at St Matthew's Church praising God's fatherly help.
Cleveland defeated the Brooklyn Dodgers 3 to 0 at League Park to clinch the World Series amid a 26 000 strong crowd. Tris Speaker led the scrappy Indians as fans rushed the field and Speaker embraced his mother in the stands.
Waco Times-Herald notes urged higher farm production while a deflationary policy reduces crop prices. The Federal Reserve Board says raw material prices fall and consumers may benefit next spring, but farmers face hardship as cities depend on the harvest.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Ballou of Hamilton were guests of Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Helmsley Monday night, leaving Tuesday morning for New Orleans to visit Mrs. Ballou's sister.

Comanche county reveals a government tax on all parties renting or operating automobiles for pay. Deputy revenue collector S. H. Flake offers assistance at the county clerk's office in Comanche for delinquent payers. Penalty for violation includes a $1,000 fine or imprisonment or both.
The De Leon Free Press criticizes the commissioners court for aiding Sipe Springs road work and providing light machinery and two men. The Chief notes county aid to De Leon Desdemona road was substantial, with equipment and concrete culverts, and asserts the court acted efficiently and fairly. The Chief suggests the Free Press spoke hastily and without full facts.

A Hamilton district court convict named Jones serving a 30 year term arrived in Comanche from Hamilton by Cotton Belt without an officer. He sought Sheriff Marshall to place himself in custody until the penitentiary contractor from Brownwood could transport him to Huntsville. Marshall held him at the jail overnight and accompanied him to the train next morning, where the contractor took over. Jones displayed pride in the trust shown by Sheriff Marshall who had allowed the trip with no restraint, carrying a letter of recommendation from Sheriff Lemmons.

Last Saturday afternoon a three foot rattlesnake with six rattles was found coiled under the water cooler in the Frisco depot waiting room. An axe was used to chop off its head after locals drew its attention away. The snake’s purpose and length of stay remain unknown.
