Old Pros Lead Bowling Standings with Three-Game High

The Old Pros remain one half game ahead of the Klodhoppers after taking three of four from the Eight-Ballers while Klodhoppers defeated the Toppers. Damon Power office manager at Central Texas Fertilizer Co. won last week’s Chief football guessing contest naming 9 of 10 winners, missing only the Indians loss to McGregor. He receives a $5 first prize. Jimmy Carpenter takes two reserved seats for the Comanche Hamilton game. Third place goes to Otis Coker and W Armstrong with a year’s subscription to The Chief.

Revival Underway At United Pentecostal Church

The United Pentecostal Church at S Houston and Fleming St opens a revival on Wednesday October 12 with Rev Preston Branum as pastor and Rev W W Combs from Arlington as evangelist. Evening services start 7 30 with singing. The church supports a National Sunday School Drive for seven weeks aiming to raise 100 locally and 10000 nationally. Carlos Woolsey is the Sunday School superintendent.

The Pittsburg Pirates claim the title after a 10-9 victory over the New York Yankees in game seven. Bill Mazeroski delivered a game winning home run on a 0-1 count in the Pirates' half of the ninth, as New York forced extra by tying it at nine in the bottom of the ninth.

New Pastor Joins Hasse Church in Comanche Roots

Rev. Robert Faulkner, a Baptist minister for fifteen years who started three mission churches, accepts the pastorate at Hasse Baptist Church. He earned a Doctor of Theology from Burton College and Seminary in Manitou Springs Colorado, and recently moved back to Comanche from Powell Wyoming where he started his latest mission. His first church formed in Woodland Park Colorado, second in Cheyenne Wyoming. Church members invite all to weekly services.

Emmett Batton Cited As One Of Schools Most Loyal Supporters

Three people were hospitalized after a two car collision at Walcott and North Austin Streets. Emmett Batton, 45, a maintenance man for the Comanche Public School System, is praised as a loyal school supporter with a lifelong record of service dating to 1923. Jackie Tucker was dismissed with minor injuries. Joanna Tucker and Mrs. Lee remained hospitalized with more serious head injuries.

Double D Motors Opens Friday on West Neely

A new repair shop named Double D Motors opens this Friday just west of the Highway 36 East overpass. Milton Dodd, owner, brings 15 years of automotive repair experience including diesel trucks and tractors. He offers 24 hour service for farmers and resides at 205 West Neely with his wife and four and a half month old son. Mrs. Dodd is the daughter of Mrs. Herman Northcutt of Comanche and sister of Mrs. Joe Evridge of Comanche.
