Blackwood-Mims Hospital Expansion and Milestones
The Blackwood-Mims Hospital grew from a small six bed facility opened by Dr. E. E. Blackwood in 1944 to a 20 bed hospital with five bassinets. It relocated June 15 1946, admitting Millard Ellis as first at the new site and welcoming first baby Kenneth Cox on June 16 1946. Dr. Roy D. Mims joined in 1955 and the hospital was renamed Blackwood-Mims. It has been an intern training site chosen by Osteopathic associations with Dr. W. D. Blackwood and Roy D. Mims owning and operating.

Comanche Produce Manager Andy Norris Dies at 52
Andrew Harris Norris 52, longtime manager of Farmer Produce Co. in Comanche, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home on October 19. Funeral services were held at Comanche Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Gould officiating. Interment followed at Oakwood Cemetery. Norris, born September 29, 1903, in Gainesville, Texas, moved to Fort Worth as a boy and rose from near illiteracy to a respected poultry and cheese processing executive. He married Ollie Mae Spivey in 1947 and is survived by two sons, a granddaughter, a Navy son, and stepchildren. He had lived in Comanche 26 years after coming from Lampasas to manage Collier plant operations.
