Shoppers flock to a weekend sale at Gore’s Red Ite Food Store with specials on regular items and a free gift offer. Prizes include a wrought iron set and other items as Coman and partners promote the event with department store deals and toy promotions.
Hendersons Food Store in Comanche holds its formal opening on Friday and Saturday October 7-8 at 217 N Houston. Joe Henderson of Dublin owns the store with Rasberry named as manager and Roland Jones in charge of the meat department. Door prizes include a week end trip for four to Fort Worth with Western Hills lodging and meals plus a Southwest Conference game ticket.
Mr Charley Marshall and Mrs attended a singing event at Hasse Sunday night with neighbors and friends.
The Comanche IOOF hosts the fifty seventh Central West Texas IOOF and Rebekah Association meeting on Thursday October 13 at the local lodge hall. Welcome by Howell Cobb and musical entertainment by Jubilettes Hazel Streety Maudie Creek and Tom Cat Brothers. About 150 to 200 delegates expected with a 50 cent registration.
The district singing convention will be held next Sunday after noon October 9 at Comyn starting at 2 o'clock.
The Comanche West Ward PTA sponsors a chili supper next Monday from 6 30 to 8 30. Tickets at 50 cents per plate or at the door in the Ward School Lunchroom. Proceeds support PTA projects at the West Ward. Everyone is invited and ticket response has been good.
The Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority plans a benefit game party at V F W Hall on Friday night October 14. Proceeds fund Comanche County Library improvements with prizes in bridge pinochle canasta and 42 for all players. A $10 groceries door prize and 50 cent tickets boost the fundraiser.
Comanche travels to DeLeon for a Reno style rivalry game. Hicks returns at quarterback with Pettit Norwood and Gossett in the backfield as Comanche seeks its third straight win against De Leon’s Bearcats led by West Christie and Davis in a bid to avoid dropping below .500.
Walgreen Agency Drug Store launches a broad one cent sale with hundreds of items at one cent after an initial regular price purchase. Process runs through Saturday with drastic price cuts including a quilt sale slashed to 5.95 from 19.85 and two 15 cent milk shakes offered for 16 cents.
The Comanche Jaycees meet tonight at 71 30 p.m. in the REA Building. The Jaycees Board of Directors convenes at 7 p.m. with discussion likely on chapter activities.
One hundred twenty six visiting firemen from several towns attended the North Central Texas Firemen's Association quarterly convention in Comanche. Events included six man pumper races won by Dublin, with Weatherford and Eastland also placing, followed by a banquet at the Veterans Building and a multi-part entertainment program. The business session named Ranger to host next January.
Here From Odessa reports Mrs. Odessa Weed spent two weeks in Comanche visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Biggs and other relatives.
Comanche County promotes its uranium discovery with gifts of dirt from the source at a Junior Chamber banquet attended by about 200 guests from Fort Worth, Waco and beyond. Jesse Reese, the original finder, spoke to the Stephenville Lions Club about the discovery and his experiences, crediting God for the mineral and urging adults to set good examples for youths.
