Funds Approved for Sheriff Deputy in Comanche County
Dr. E. W. Mince announces a $9,280 award from the Texas Office of Traffic Safety to the Comanche County Sheriff's Department. The funds fund one extra deputy, Sheriff W. G. Garman, to lead a Selective Traffic Enforcement Program focusing on DWI detection and general traffic law enforcement in Comanche County. Notable Comanche figure Dwight Brightman dies. FBI veteran and local leader
Dwight Brightman of Comanche lived a storied public life from World War I service to a multi term sheriff election. He became an FBI agent under J Edgar Hoover, aided by a notable undercover unit in kidnappings and bank robberies, later serving as County Judge. He returned to farming in Proctor after retiring in 1955 and remained active in civic and church life.
