Austin State Teachers College and an MA from the University of Texas. He led Gustine schools to progress and debt reduction and served as Masonic Lodge worshipful master.

B R Weaver former Garner Alvis Store manager in the late 1920s and early 1930s now living in Mingus sent in his annual subscription to The Chief. He notes a stroke on January 1 1936 and a second stroke about a year ago. He was a popular merchant in Comanche with many friends.

Comanche Indians shut out Gustine 18 0 to claim their first win of the season. Boff scored twice as Dan Waggoner, on a 60 yard catch from Cox, added the other TD. The defense limited Gustine to 42 rushing yards and seven first downs. Comanche opens District 12 A play at Hamilton Bulldogs tonight.

Funeral rites were held Thursday at Taylors Chapel for Uncle Joe Burns who lived in the Cotton Grove community and had been a Comanche County citizen for over 50 years. He is survived by his widow.

An honorable Army discharge may now serve as a legal substitute for a birth certificate. The discharge date is recognized as valid proof of birth. The local American Legion head says this will aid ex soldiers seeking defense jobs and other positions who had trouble obtaining birth records.

Quota Peanut Prices Rise as No 1 Peanuts Hit 2 12 a Bushel

Comanche County farmers await a monthly meeting at Mount Pleasant where officers will be elected and singers invited. Prices for allotted No 1 peanuts advance to 2.12 per bushel with No 2 at 1.85 and No 3 at 1.60, oil stock peanuts steady at 1.29 and 1.23. Overall acreage is split, with 35 percent allotted and 65 percent oil stock. Estimated 1942 crop: 54 million pounds from 90 000 acres.

Frank Kirkland Reemployed as City Trash Hauler

Frank Kirkland, longtime trash hauler for Comanche, quit after truck trouble but secured a new contract this week and resumed work Thursday. Mayor House says he will also collect front building trash daily if owners sweep the frontage.
