Boys Corn and Girls Tomato Clubs Hold Prize Meet

Twenty boys and thirty girls gathered at the Chamber of Commerce for a prize ceremony at the Majestic Theatre. Miss Carter and Mr. Quicksall led speeches as prizes were awarded by Mrs. Kittle and Mr. Eaton. Awards covered best exhibits, yields, and jars of tomatoes with cash, boxes, and goods, highlighting Lois Robertson Winnie McCrary Bonnie Ferrill and others. Child Killed Near Sidney Reported

Ernest Holland aged 14, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Holland, was found dead near their Sidney area home after dusk. Hoof prints over his heart suggest a fatal kick from a pet colt. he was last seen playing with the animal.

Cotton Loan Fund Proposed by St Louis Bankers

A plan to raise a 150 million cotton loan fund was ratified by a bankers’ delegation in St. Louis. Subscriptions from banks trust companies and merchandile firms would fund loans on cotton at up to six cents per pound middling. Wesley Adult Bible Class members enjoyed a Comanche Stew near Prof Lane’s home last Tuesday night. Benton Stailey brewed the stew and it was proclaimed a howling success by all. Several games followed then an old time spelling bee kept the crowd engaged. The contest ended in a draw as the magic word Comanche Stew was announced.

Mr Roberson of Comanche died Wednesday night and was laid to rest Thursday afternoon at Oakwood cemetery with a family funeral.
