E J Berry area director for the War Manpower Commission announces a Monday interview day in Borger for workers to fill positions at major war plants near town. Representatives from L Stocker Company B F Goodrich Phillips refinery and Phillips Butadiene Plant will be at the County Court Room from 9 to 5 Monday to recruit men and ensure no essential workers are taken from civilian needs. The United States Employment Service will join to verify hiring. Berry emphasizes targeting men not contributing to war production while avoiding removal of needed civilian workers.

Allen Hart Dies Suddenly At Waco Interment Here
Allen Hart 46 former Comanche resident and son of Mrs. John S. Hart died suddenly at his Waco home after returning from Calvary Baptist Church services. He was assistant division engineer with the Texas State Highway Department at Waco and had long service in Colman County and Wharton. Interment was at Oakwood Cemetery with services at Calvary Baptist Church. He leaves wife Lilie Mae Arnold Hart and two daughters Mary Ellen and Dorris Faye, plus his mother and sister and grandmother.

Fritz Dinglager Sentenced 25 Years for Wilson Slaying
Fritz Dinglager of Priddy received a 25 year term from a Mills County District Court jury at Golthvaite on September 22 for the June 6 slaying of Eugene Wilson of Comanche at Fritz Dance Hall near Priddy. Wilson, son of Mr and Mrs W A Wilson, recently discharged from the Army, formerly worked as a cook in a local cafe.

Uncle Billy Keith Dies After Brief Illness in Beattie
Keith, 81, a longtime Beattie resident, died at home Thursday night after a three week illness following a stroke. Funeral services were held at Taylor's Chapel with Rev. Jeff Sanders and Rev. Sam Short directing, and burial in Taylor's Chapel Cemetery. Survivors include sons Ben and George Keith and daughters Mrs. Tom Black, Mrs. John Brown, Mrs. Elmer Andress, Mrs. Avner Andress, and Mrs. Jess Eads. wife died in 1907.

Energy Soldier Cpl. Frank Cates Killed in Action in France
Cpl. Frank Buster Cates 32, son of G. D. Cates of Energy, was killed in action in France. He served four years, had been overseas over two years, and fought in North Africa Sicily and Italy before moving to France. Memorial services set for October 15 at 3:30 p.m. at Energy Baptist Church. His brothers Alvin and Virduel Cates also serve overseas.

Ensign Robert L. Skinner aged 20 son of Mrs Bessie Skinner of Hasse has been listed as missing then lost by the Navy Department after his Navy Wildcat fighter went down over the Long Island Sound. Skinner a Comanche High School graduate named his plane Comanche Chief. His mother and sister had traveled to Rhode Island before returning home.

Support Price for Hogs Announced
The Office of Price Administration and War Food Administration with director approval announce hog ceiling prices unchanged before June 30 1945. Hog ceilings are 14.75 per cwt for 240 lb or less and 14.00 per cwt for over 240 lb. War Food also extends 12.50 per cwt for Good to Choice butcher dogs 200 to 240 lb through June 30 1945.

The Comanche County Fox Hunters Association held a well attended hunt at Olden Ferrell Valley Ranch between Sidney and Comanche. About 500 people enjoyed the hunt a beach show and a free barbecue. One fox was caught in the chase. The association has about 250 members, formed last year.

Mrs. Armstrong Cox, Comanche County Red Cross Surgical Dressing Center Chairman, says response has been good but more workers are needed. She asks for at least 16 women each weekday afternoon for two weeks and Thursday nights to meet Comanche County's dressings quota. The center operates on the third floor of the Comanche County Courthouse.

Methodists Buy New Pipe Organ for Comanche Church
The First Methodist Church of Comanche has purchased a Wick's Pipe Organ, a two manual instrument with about six hundred pipes and rich coupling features. Music director Carl Brumbelow notes its tonal enrichment, and the organ will arrive within sixty to ninety days as the first pipe organ in Comanche County.
