Burglars hit four Comanche sites last week causing property damage. The Co mande High School building and Home Economics Cottage were entered. safes were pried with changes from coin boxes totaling a few dollars. A church pastors study, Sun Drive-In Theatre, Gore Bros. Feed Mill, and the principal's office also showed thefts and broken safes as police investigate for the grand jury.
The Comanche Heart Association asks support for the American Heart Association program during February Heart Month. The Texas Heart Association in Houston coordinates funds, with 25 cents of each dollar for AHA, half for research, half for education. In Texas 15 percent supports THA, totaling over half a million dollars.
The Sidney Eagles, defending district six man champions, host Mullin on Thursday night at Eagle Field to open conference play. After dropping their first two games they’ve won two straight, beating Fairy 24 19. Dean Vineyard scored from 15 yards, Max Reed connected with Ray Merworth twice, and Jackie Carlisle added a 5 yard TD run.
J. N. Jim Taylor of Stephenville has joined the Atwood Hatchery sales organization in Comanche. He recently earned a Master’s in Poultry Science from A&M and visited the Heisdorf Nelson poultry farm in Kirkland Washington. The Atwood Hatchery, in its 21st year, incubates 264000 chicks per three weeks and plans to add 132000 more, with ongoing expansion and a 16-person payroll.
Gustine, riding a four game win streak and led by David Willingham with 75 points, travels to Carbon for the district opener. Carbon returns all starters from last year as Gustine seeks to defend its status as district favorite.
The Comanche Chamber of Commerce honored Dr. William T. Calhoun as Man of the Year for 1957 at a banquet attended by about ninety. R. H. Breckenridge outlined industrial growth plans for Comanche and a survey he conducted for Texas Power & Light.
Four contestants correctly predicted 10 of 11 games in Comanche Chiefs weekly grid. John Keeter of Comanche Rt. 3 took first with a 54 6 score for Killeen over Comanche 6. E W Gleaton won two tickets to Comanche San Saba game and R E Norwood won a year's Chief subscription.
In Wichita Falls on Monday a Visivs Market delegation toured the local wholesale market of the White firm, examining supply chains, pricing, and distribution models for potential regional expansion.

Frick Sr suffers a heart attack and is hospitalized in improved condition.
Mrs T H Donald of Gustine underwent major surgery at a Dublin hospital Friday September 20. She is now back at home and making satisfactory recovery according to her husband. Dwight Brightman spent the weekend in Abilene with his children Mrs J D Hinton and Captain Jack Brightman.
A pension meeting will be held in the County Court Room on Saturday October 5 at 2 p.m. All members are urged to attend. Molte Mullican is in charge of arrangements.
Carl Cox of Comanche was carried to Dublin after suffering a heart attack on Tuesday. He recently relocated here from Proctor and is receiving hospital care.
Over 750 Comanche County youths and their leaders travel to Dallas for Rural Youth Day at the State Fair. The event showcases FFA boys and FHA girls from Texas with opening ceremonies, contests, and fairground activities as Dallas businessmen host a king and provide activities including a hot dog and orange drink program.
