John R. Slaughter was certified to the County Clerk by the rechecking committee. His vote stood 2278 with Miss Coan at 2263 after 61 ballots were discarded. In the primary Coan had 2309 votes and Slaughter 2293.

Out of County Attendance Planned for Owsley Address

Many visitors from surrounding counties expected at the fair to hear Col. Alvin M. Owsley speak on Thursday October 7. Letters were sent to area American Legion Posts inviting attendance as the Rector Cunningham Post and Fair host the event. A large supply of fertilizing material is available gratis at the Park feed lots for anyone to take as needed.

Machinery arrives to repave Comanche public square

A eight ton roller and prep for using Uvalde asphalt rock signal start of public square repaving. The project, a joint effort by county and city, aims to smooth streets, improve the courthouse area and reduce noise. Water Superintendent Black inspected Comanche’s water supply during the weekend.
