A fire at Bozeman's store in Vandyke completely gutted the building with about $1,000 insurance. The upper floor housed the W.O.W lodge and its furniture and six members were destroyed. The store, first opened about 25 years ago, changed hands to Mr. Bozeman a few years back.
Fine Goats Shipment Expands Pottsville man's flock
T. K. Rea of Pottsville shipped 205 goats to his 827 acre Energy ranch on Wednesday. The herd included 200 nannies and three bucks from Ringlet and Mlatlock breeds, bought from J. G. Wilkerson and Ray F. Wyatt who run large ranches near Menard. The move increases Rea's flock to about 590 goats.

Burglars Loot Blanket Store Then Flee in Abandoned Car
Burglars knocked a safe in the Baker Levisay and Company shop at Blanket Monday night and escaped with about 40 dollars in cash and 100 dollars worth of groceries hardware and shells. A Cisco night officer pursued the men when they appeared in Cisco Tuesday morning but they were not captured. The robbers’ car was abandoned and all merchandise recovered. Cisco police continue the hunt.

Tragic De Leon Road Crash Kills Three Youths
A Friday afternoon wreck on the De Leon Comanche Highway five miles south of De Leon killed Mozelle Watson 15 and Eva Davis 16 and seriously injured Ian Hodges. Seven Comyn School youths were riding in a sedan returning from Gustine when Blake Morrison 14 braked to avoid a third car causing a rollover. Watson died on removal, Davis died later at German Sanitarium, Hodges remained hospitalized. The others escaped with minor injuries. Watson and Davis were siblings in the Comyn area, with Watson the sister in law of Comyn school Supt W R Heizer. Double funeral services were held at Comyn cemetery Sunday.
